The temporary closing to passenger traffic of the Channel tunnel, which connects France and the UK, has resulted in a significant increase of air traffic between the UK and continental Europe. British Airways, British Midland and Air France have all boosted capacity to Paris, the former by 25%. On the Brussels-London route, BA and British Midland have both announced 10% increases in capacity, while, on the Antwerp-London City route, VLM has stepped up the number of daily Fokker 50 departures from four to nine.
