TUPOLEV presented two prototypes at the show.

The first to be displayed was the Tu-234 - a shortened, 160-seat version of the 220-seat Tu-204. This was followed a day later by the roll-out of the 102- to 126-seat Tu-334 twinjet.

Tupolev deputy general director July Kashtanov says that the Perm PS-90A-powered Tu-234 was created by removing two, 3m-long sections from the fuselage of the first Tu-204 prototype. The Russian State Register has therefore accepted the results of static and fatigue tests on the 204 airframe as counting towards the certification of the shortened aircraft. Kashtanov says that he expects the aircraft to be certificated within a year.

Tupolev says that the aircraft has a maximum take-off weight of 103t and a range of up to 9,000km (4,900nm).

The Tu-334, powered by ZMKB Progress D436T1 turbojets, is intended to operate on routes up to 3,000km, with a maximum take-off weight of 46t.
