Pratt & Whitney comes to Farnborough with a clutch of new orders for its PW2000 turbofan from both commercial and military customers.

Most recently, the PW2000 has been selected by the US Air Force to power its new fleet of Boeing C-32A transports. The C-32 is the military version of Boeing's 757-200 airliner and will be used for VIP transport. P&W says the contract, for installed engines and spares for four aircraft, is worth $54 million. Deliveries will take place in 1998.

Finnair, meanwhile, has chosen the PW2000 for its fleet of four 757-200s, which it will lease though International Lease Finance. They will be the Finnish airline's first Boeings. The eight installed engines plus spares are valued at $58 million.
