Turkey's decision to select Sikorsky's S-80E heavy-lift helicopter in a $350 million deal has given the US manufacturer a timely boost in the run-up to Farnborough, and may be the catalyst for additional sales in the European market.

The Turkish Government has signed a contract for eight machines, plus spares and training, further cementing a lucrative customer relationship for Sikorsky, which is already contracted to supply 109 S-70 Black Hawks to Turkey by 2001. The Turkish Navy has eight S-70 Seahawks on order. Deliveries begin this year.
