Turkish Airlines will begin new service to Atlanta Hartsfield-Jackson International airport in May 2016.
The Star Alliance carrier will offer once daily service to Atlanta from its Istanbul base with an up to 349-seat Boeing 777-300ER from 16 May 2016, it says on its website.
Turkish joins Qatar Airways in announcing new service to Atlanta. Qatar announced in May plans for new daily service from the southeastern US city to Doha from 1 July 2016.
No other carriers, including hometown Delta Air Lines, fly between Atlanta and Istanbul, Innovata schedules show.
