TRANS WORLD AIRLINES (TWA) has clarified plans for its outstanding order for Rolls-Royce Trent-powered Airbus A330s, which it had previously indicated would be cancelled under its planned financial restructuring (Flight International, 18-24 January, P8).

The airline says, that the agreement for ten firm and ten option A330s remains intact, but that financing has yet to be arranged. TWA must notify Airbus and Rolls-Royce by 30 June if it decides to cancel the order. If it cancels, the airline will forfeit prepayments of $14 million to Airbus and $3.9 million to Rolls-Royce.

The A330 order was renegotiated in 1993, while TWA was in Chapter 11, bankruptcy protection, to delay deliveries.
