The number of aircraft certificated under new US special light-sport aircraft rules has reached the 20 mark with approval of Pacific Aerosystem’s Rotax-powered Sky Arrow 600 Sport, a high-wing, all-composite pusher-propeller design built by Italy’s Iniziative Industriali Italiane. Other new approvals include the Australian-designed and -powered Jabiru J170-SP and J250-SP, both high-wing, all-composite aircraft; Czech Air Works’ low-wing, all-metal CH-601XL; and the high-wing Rans S-7LS Courier, a US-built metal-and-fabric taildragger. Both the latter are Rotax-powered.
