The Teledesic T-1 and Indostar satellites built by Orbital Sciences (OSC) have malfunctioned in orbit. Teledesic's T-1 communications technology satellite, which was launched by an OSC Pegasus XL in February, has ceased operating.

The craft, based on an OSC MicroStar bus and built with Boeing and Teledesic, was conducting systems tests for the proposed $9 billion, 288-satellite multimedia system.

The Indostar communications satellite, which was built by the former CTA, now part of OSC, and launched on an Ariane booster in November 1997, has suffered a severe battery failure and is operating below capacity.
