Italy’s air force allocated two Eurofighter Typhoons to quick reaction alert duties for the first time on 16 December. Assigned to the 4th Wing at Grosseto airbase, the single-seat fighters were placed on standby for an initial 24h, each armed with one Raytheon AIM-120 AMRAAM and one AIM-9 Sidewinder air-to-air missile.
