Austria has become the first export customer for the Eurofighter Typhoon, concluding a €1.98 billion ($2.24 billion) deal for 18 multirole fighters. Four will be handed over from mid-2007, 12 in 2008 and the other two will be delivered in 2009. The Austrian aircraft will be assembled to the same specification as those of the German air force and built by EADS in Manching.
