United announced it will join British Airways and Virgin Atlantic in offering an enhanced economy product on its international flights. United will increase seat pitch from 31 inches to 36 in the section - which will vary in size from 71 to 83 seats, depending on the aircraft. The process is due to be complete by the end of the year. "We are giving more space to those who have paid for it or have shown loyalty to United," says vice president for marketing Graham Atkinson.
