Work under the UK’s three-year Autonomous Systems Technology Related Airborne Evaluation and Assessment initiative began on 2 January, following the signature of a letter of intent between the programme’s industry and government stakeholders. The £32 million ($55 million) project, which seeks to clear unmanned air vehicles for routine operations in UK airspace, was boosted by a last minute Ministry of Defence commitment worth £500,000.
