UK long-haul all-business carrier Silverjet is in discussions regarding a possible acquisition of the airline by unidentified investors. The company has disclosed the negotiations following a sharp increase in its share price.

Silverjet’s share value, which has declined by around 90% over the past year, rose by about 16% in early trading today.

In a statement Silverjet acknowledges the development and says: “The company is currently in discussions which may or may not lead to an offer for the issued share capital of the company.”

Silverjet has neither identified the parties involved nor given any further details of the potential takeover.

London Luton-based Silverjet operates transatlantic services to Newark and also conducts flights to Dubai.
