UK chancellor Philip Hammond has acknowledged the possibility of a halt to European flights following the UK's withdrawal from the European Union, but has also dismissed it as far-fetched.
Hammond gave evidence to the parliamentary treasury select committee on 11 October.
He was addressing such issues as the timing of a potential commitment of public funds in the event that no agreement is reached on future co-operation between the UK and the EU after the exit date in March 2019.
"Obviously one can plan for the most extreme scenario," Hammond told the committee. "It is theoretically conceivable that, in a no-deal scenario, there will be no air traffic moving between the UK and European Union on 29 March 2019.
"But I don't think anybody seriously believes that that is where we will get to."
