GKN is selling London Battersea Heliport in the UK to concentrate on its core business activities, which include automotive systems and components, as well as aerospace structures and helicopter manufacture under its Westland subsidiary. The heliport, opened in 1959, was acquired by GKN with Westland in 1994. GKN says: "The heliport has enormous potential and the site will be better served by a dedicated owner. Over the past five years the number of civilian movements has increased on average by 5% a year."
