Defence Secretary George Robertson will signal the UK's intention to join the NATO Flying Training in Canada (NFTC) programme when he meets with his Canadian counterpart, Art Eggleton, at the show today. Denmark signed up for the innovative Canadian-run fighter pilot training scheme on the eve of the show. Under the privately operated NFTC programme, Bombardier-owned Harvard II turboprops and Hawk jets will be used to train combat pilots for the Canadian Forces and other NATO air arms.
