The UK's new National Private Pilot's Licence will come into force from 30 July. It is divided into three categories: microlight, self-launching motor glider and "simple single-engine aeroplane", defined as a single engine piston aircraft with a maximum take-off weight not exceeding 2,000kg (4,400lb).
