UK trade body the British Business and General Aviation Association has appointed Marc Bailey as its chief operating officer.

Bailey will lead lobbying and representational campaigns on behalf of BBGA members, who span every facet of the professional business and general aviation industry in the UK, from flying schools and airfields to business jet operators and handling agents.

Bailey joins the association from Cobham Aviation Services - formerly FR Aviation - where he held a number of positions since joining in 1998, culminating with that of head of quality, continuing airworthiness and training, which he as held since 2002.

He has chaired the BBGA's engineering committee since 2006, and was elected to the association's governing council in 2007. He was also a founder member of the UK Maintenance Error Management System.

"I am greatly looking forward to this next challenge in my career," says Bailey. "We are going through a phase of unprecedented legislative change in every area of our members' businesses, and stronger trade representation is essential if the UK and Europe are to remain aviation centres in the decades ahead."
