THE UK HAS DEPLOYED elements of 24 Airmobile Brigade to Croatia with the arrival of Army Air Corps (AAC) and Royal Air Force helicopters at the port of Ploce. The unit is being deployed to support the United Nations Protection Force. The first helicopters to arrive were nine AAC Westland Lynx Mk9 light battlefield helicopters from 3 Regiment AAC, along with nine Lynx Mk7s and nine Aerospatiale Gazelles. Six RAF Boeing Chinook HC2 and six Aerosptiale Puma HC1s have also arrived at Ploce to provide an airlift capability for the unit.
