Eight aircrews from the UK Royal Air Force and US Air Force will participate in a Red Flag-style exercise in October under a demonstration of experimental networked simulation techniques.
Four Panavia Tornado GR4 cockpit simulators will be installed at RAF Waddington, Lincolnshire for the exercise, along with four Lockheed Martin F-16 training devices at an Air Force Research Laboratory site in Mesa, Arizona. Part of the UK's Mission Training through Distributed Simulation effort, the exercise will to be managed by a Boeing and Qinetiq-led team.
The UK plans to add training devices for the Eurofighter Typhoon and Boeing/Westland Apache AH1 attack helicopter.
