The UK Ministry of Defence has, as expected, delayed a procurement decision on its future active-radar-guided missile for the Eurofighter EF2000, instead awarding two £5 million ($8.1 million) 12-month risk-reduction studies. Hughes and Matra BAe Dynamics will carry out the studies for the beyond- visual-range air-to-air missile. Hughes is offering a derivative of its AIM-120 missile, while Matra BAe is proposing the Meteor missile for the project.
