Russian Helicopters subsidiary Ulan Ude has delivered two Mil Mi-171 helicopters ahead of schedule to Russia's largest helicopter operator, UTair.

The twin-engined rotorcraft were to be handed over late in the third quarter says Russian Helicopters, but because of increasing demand for freight transport, UTAir - which operates 250 helicopters - was forced to bring the deliveries forward.

The company has now received 39 of the 40 helicopters it has on order with Ulan Ude. The airframer plans to deliver 75 Mi-171/171Sh helicopters this year from its base in eastern Siberia, 15 more than in 2009.
