United Airlines will be the first carrier to move in to the new terminal 2 at London Heathrow International airport in June.
The Chicago-based Star Alliance carrier will consolidate all of its 17 daily flights at the airport to terminal 2 on 4 June with other Star carriers moving into the facility later in 2014, it says. Its operations are split between terminals 1 and 4 at Heathrow currently.
The terminal includes a new 2,043.9m2 (22,000ft2) United Club and Global First Lounge.
Separately, United plans to operate all of its flights between London Heathrow and Newark Liberty International on widebody aircraft during the peak spring and summer period, which correlates to roughly the late second and third quarter. It will replace 169-seat Boeing 757-200s with 183-seat Boeing 767-300ERs during these times.
United serves Chicago O’Hare, Houston Intercontinental, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco and Washington Dulles with nonstop flights from London Heathrow.
