Hubert Laurenz Naimer, founder and president of Universal Avionics, has died in Vienna at the age of 82. Naimer was a successful entrepreneur, businessman and an experienced pilot, having spent more than 40 years in the cockpit of high-performance aircraft operating worldwide. His love of aviation, pioneering spirit, genius and inexhaustible drive led to many inventions and innovative ideas, such as the UNS-1 flight management system introduced in 1982. Naimer maintained leadership control of the company until his death. He will be succeeded by his son, Ted.
