Busy flight department managers and pilots could benefit from a visit to the Universal Weather booth (5784), where the flight information and trip support specialist is showcasing new services and upgrades to existing ones.

The company is also showing off its new “UV” branding, evident in offerings such as the UVtriplink web portal, UVair discount fuel pricing program, and UVdatalink satcoms service.

The booth features live demos of UVtriplink, which gives registered users access to services such as permits, Customs forms, ground handling and fuel arrangements; the UVflightplanner.com flight planning service; UVdatalink and the UVair fuelling card.

Universal is also offering every visitor a free copy of the 2006 edition of UVTripPlanner, a paperback publication providing information on civil, joint and military airports worldwide, and listing the fixed-based operators and ground handlers serving them.

To collect your copy of UVTripPlanner – available for the first time in separate worldwide, North American and European editions - just give the Universal staffers at the booth your definition of a successful trip.

The company has expanded its range of online trip information tools, making them available through universalweather.com. They allow users to create and modify plans for trips, obtain the status of service requests and confirmations, create flightplans and get weather briefs, request landing and overflight permits, and make arrangements for fuel, ground handling, transportation, and passenger and aircraft protection.

Universal has also announced an upgrade to its UVdatalink Inmarsat Aero H+ voice and data satellite communications service in the form of 6s incremental billing. The company says this format is unique among voice satcoms providers, which generally bill in full-minute increments. Savings from the new facility could typically amount to several dollars for a call of just over 1min.

UVdatalink also supports Inmarsat’s Aero mini M, Aero I and Swift64, and Iridium’s voice and low-rate data services.
