Unmanned Systems Europe - the first in a global series of conferences hosted by Flight International and the Association of Unmanned Vehicle Systems International - took place in Berlin, Germany on 6-7 May, on the eve of the ILA air show. More than 20 speakers gave papers on subjects ranging from unmanned air vehicles and the war on terror to the funding challenges facing Europe's fragmented UAV industry. The conference was sponsored by EADS and Northrop Grumman and supported by General Atomics, Raytheon and German aerospace industry association BDLI, and was an official event of the ILA air show. This first report of the conference is from Craig Hoyle and Peter La Franchi. There will be a further round-up in our 18-24 May issue.
