Aircraft shipments by US general aviation manufacturers in the first nine months of the year increased by more than half, with deliveries of piston-powered aircraft almost doubling over those of the same period last year.
The US General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) says that piston aircraft deliveries increased by 85%, to 1,051. Turbofan aircraft shipments increased by almost 20%, to 282 units, and turboprop deliveries rose by 3%, to 162 units. Total shipments increased by more than 55%, and billings rose by 21%, according to GAMA.
Cessna led the piston aircraft deliveries, with 572 units, followed by New Piper Aircraft, with 212, and Raytheon, with 84.
Cessna also headed business jet shipments, with 143 units, followed by Raytheon, which delivered 48, and Bombardier Learjet, with 47. Gulfstream led the billings, shipping 44 GIVs and GVs, worth almost $1.5 billion.
