Veteran Martens joins US Airways Express

US Airways has appointed Robert Martens as senior vice-president of its subsidiary US Airways Express.

In his new role, Martens will oversee the US Airways Express business including 2,300 daily flights and nine regional airlines. He will also have direct oversight of regional subsidiaries Piedmont Airlines and PSA Airlines.

Martens has over 35 years of aviation experience. He kicked-off his career at Trans World Airlines, but spent the majority of his time with American Airlines where he ran its regional operation American Eagle during a major expansion in the early 1990s. After 18 years at AMR Martens moved to run Business Express and later had a short period at Polar Air Cargo as chief operating officer.
