Germany's XtremeAir has received US certification for its XA42 aerobatic aircraft, opening up the largest general aviation market for the two-seat piston single.

The XA42 - which clinched Europe certification in February last year - is slated by the Hecklingen-based airframer as the only two-seat aerobatic aircraft manufactured and certificated with a carbon fibre composite fuselage and structural design.

The XA42 and its single-seat counterpart the XA41 are validated for a load factor up to +/-10g. Both aircraft are equipped with a 315hp (235kW) Textron Lycoming AEIO-580-B1A engine.
