Aerospace employment continued to rise in the USA in the final three months of 2004, the third consecutive quarter of growth, according to statistics from the Aerospace Industries Association. An extra 8,000 jobs were created in the period, making a total increase of 27,400 since employment hit a 50-year low in February last year. By the end of 2004, employment reached 607,100, in aircraft and engines, missiles and space vehicles, and search, detection and navigation instruments. While the aircraft and instrument manufacturing sectors added 5% and 4% to their workforces, respectively, employment in missiles and space vehicles was slightly down.
