Sikorsky has won a $150 million contract with the US Navy for the maintenance of Navy T-2 and TA-4jet trainers.

The contract also includes maintenance of HH-1N and UH-3H helicopters and was won by Sikorsky Support Services (SSSI) under a competitive tender by the Naval Air Systems Command.

Naval air training bases in Mississippi and Florida will form the hub of the work for SSSI, alongside a naval repair centre in Texas.

Gene Buckley, Sikorsky president and chief executive officer, says: "We are honoured by the Naval Air Systems Command's recognition of SSSI's reputation for outstanding, innovative maintenance practices and technologies.

"The contract adds further depth to our close relationship with the US Navy, for whom we provide the CH-60 and SH-60R helicopters - helicopters that will meet the Navy's 21st Century needs as expressed in the Navy Helicopter Master Plan."
