STUDY The US Navy has selected four companies to study aircraft that can perform persistent unmanned maritime airborne surveillance missions. General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems has signed a global agreement to market the Dominator UAV developed by Israel’s Aeronautics Defence Systems. Lockheed Martin and General Atomics Aeronautical Systems have teamed to offer the latter’s Mariner, while Northrop Grumman plans to offer a maritime version of its RQ-4 Global Hawk. Boeing Phantom Works has not disclosed a long-endurance, fixed-wing UAV concept.
