US REGIONAL AIRLINES report an 8% increase in the passengers boarding in 1994.

The Regional Airlines Association (RAA) recorded 57 million boardings industry-wide, generating a 13% increase in traffic to 12 billion revenue-passenger kilometres.

RAA figures show a US regional fleet of 2,172 aircraft - a 2% reduction on 1993. The Saab 340 accounts for 14% of capacity, with 211 aircraft in service. It is followed by the Embraer Brasilia (13%/219 aircraft) and the ATR 42 (10%/113 aircraft). Average seating capacity per aircraft has reached 24.

Flagship Airlines and Simmons Airlines and Continental Express were ranked as the three largest regional carriers.
