Goodrich has been awarded a $22 million contract by the US Air Force to manufacture additional Lockheed Martin C-5 Galaxy aircraft landing gear axle beams for use as spares.

The deal increases Goodrich's total order base for C-5 axle beams to 152 units and extends deliveries through to mid-2010.

Dick Strehle, vice-president and general manager, Military for Goodrich's Landing Gear division, says: "The C-5 is a very important programme for Goodrich and our military aftermarket business. We are delighted that the USAF continues to choose Goodrich to manufacture this highly complex, mission-critical hardware. The C-5 axle beam showcases our core competencies in manufacturing large, complex landing gear."
