The US Air Force has awarded Hamilton Sundstrand (Hall 5, B19-20 ) a contract with an estimated value of $250 million over three years to supply spare parts and logistics support for a wide range of military aircraft.

The contract supports the air force depot repair of electric power system generators and constant speed drives for aircraft, plus specific parts, including gearboxes and fuel controls for Lockheed Martin F-16s.

Altogether, about 5,400 items will be incorporated into the contract, including support for 11 types.

"This award, a part of a larger Strategic Supplier Alliance initiative with the US government, helps us reduce administrative lead time and production lead time while expanding Hamilton Sundstrand's role from a transactional parts supplier to a logistics support partner with the Department of Defense," says Bill Silvestri, general manager of the Hamilton Sundstrand Military Spares and Logistics organisation.

Under this approach, the government buys performance levels and services in addition to individual spare parts or technical data.
