The Bombardier CL-327 Guardian vertical take-off and landing unmanned air vehicle (UAV) has been selected by the US Air Force's UAV Battlelab to demonstrate how such craft can support non-combatant evacuations, humanitarian assistance and other missions.

The series of demonstrations will take place next year under the sponsorship of the Battlelab. Exercises will be conducted at night in conjunction with a USAF Lockheed Martin C-130. L-3 Communications and FLIR Systems are assisting Bombardier Services with the study.

The Guardian is being integrated with the Sierra Nevada UCARS automatic landing system for sea trials due next year. UCARS testing is already under way.
