American Eurocopter has been cleared to bid on US government contracts. The threat of a ban had followed the manufacturer's guilty plea in a US federal court earlier this year in connection with commissions paid to an Israeli businessman. Eurocopter was accused of attempting to defraud the US Government by illegally obtaining foreign-military-financing funds for a $50 million 1993 deal to supply eight AS365N Dauphin helicopters to the Israeli navy. Eurocopter agreed to pay $48.8 million in settlement.
