The US Navy has awarded Logicon's Tactical Systems division $14 million to continue development of the NATO Improved Link Eleven (NILE) digital datalink system. This contract phase will develop common specifications, according to the USN. Link 11 is the standard naval-communications datalink among NATO nations. It is used to provide secure line of sight communications between surface vessels and other platforms, including maritime helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft.
