The development of a 10.5m (35ft) HF broadband antenna, the world's first without the use of a resistor, has been revealed at Farnborough.

Canadian firm Valcom has taken five years to develop this equipment, which creates no heat and cannot, therefore, be located by a heat seeking missile.

"This is an important technological advance - a major breakthrough in revolutionary liquid metal processes," says Paul MacPherson, the owner of the company.

"The process is a big secret! It is so important I have not had it patented so other firms cannot find out how we do it."
