ValuJet Airlines, has purchased four ex-Swissair McDonnell Douglas (MDC) MD-80s, scheduled for delivery by the end of 1997. The US low-cost carrier, meanwhile, has refused to accept delivery of an MDC DC-9-31, which has failed inspection standards for condition and records. The airline plans to sell or sub-lease its four DC-9-21s by June. ValuJet plans to increase its fleet to 58 aircraft by the end of this year.
