Russia's Vantai Machinery-Building Factory in Vantai has successfully performed its 10,000th rocket test firing. Since 1961, the plant, 565km (350 miles) from Samara, has been responsible for testing the rocket engines for all Russian launchers. Anatoly Anenkov, the factory's general director, says that the most powerful engined tested has been the Energomash RD-7 used in the Soyuz launcher.
