The VASO plant in Voronezh is the prime candidate in Russia to produce parts for the Airbus A350.

Russia has been offered 3% of the programme and, according to Boris Aleshin, head of Russia’s Federal Agency for Industry (FAP), VASO’s chances of winning the order are “good”.

VASO will provide a base as a “centre of competence” in composite materials, Aleshin adds. The plant’s 95th workshop is producing composite materials for the Ilyushin Il-96 widebody and the Antonov An-148 regional jet, and will also produce parts for the Sukhoi-led Russian Regional Jet.
