GERMAN Government-owned marketing firm Vebeg has sold one Grob G520 Egrett high-altitude observation aircraft and is looking for customers for a tandem G 520T variant.

According to Vebeg, the aircraft has been sold to Hamburg-based electronics specialist FTN Atlas. Both sales are being made on behalf of the German Ministry of Defence.

The Egrett was developed through a partnership between airframe manufacturer Burkhart Grob and E-Systems of the USA as a high-altitude military-reconnaissance aircraft for the German air force. The defence ministry later cancelled its requirement for nine aircraft because of budget cuts, and customers for the five single-seat prototypes and one tandem aircraft have proved elusive up to now. FTN Atlas was unable to confirm the purchase as Flight International went to press.
