The Australian government will replace its two VIP Boeing 707 transports with the same number of Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) or Airbus Industrie A319CJ.Five existing leased Dassault Falcon 900s will be replaced with three leased aircraft with transcontinental capability, expected to be either the Dassault Falcon 2000, Bombardier Canadair Challenger 605, or Cessna Citation X. All five aircraft will be leased, but crewed by the Royal Australian Air Force. One of the B707s, which has been modified for air refuelling, will be retained until replacements for the refuelling fleet are identified.
