One of the first enhanced vision systems for light aircraft has been developed by US firm Forward Vision, part-owned by kitplane builder Aerocomp. The non-certificated system sells for under $20,000, including infrared sensor and liquid-crystal display.

Company founder Patrick Farrell says the sensor can be mounted under the wing or on the tail to provide situational awareness in reduced visibility, with the display mounted in the panel, on the glareshield or overhead. Systems are installed in two kitplanes and a jet, he says.
