Aerostructures supplier Vought Aircraft Industries is to cut its non-touch labour workforce by “15-20%”, says president and chief executive Elmer Doty. The restructuring will result in the loss of 450 jobs this month and a further 150 by mid-year, mostly in Dallas, Texas. “Our situation is simple – we are spending more than we are taking in. We have to fix this,” says Doty.
