Saudi Arabian Airlines is to install OnAir Swiftbroadband Mobile and WiFi Internet OnAir communications services on its Airbus A330 fleet following delivery of the first aircraft next year.
Passengers will be able use mobile phones or Blackberry-type devices to make and receive calls, send and receive text messages and emails, as well as access the internet and VPN networks.
The service on Saudi Arabian's A330 fleet will operate on the ALNA v2 modular platform, which can also provide cockpit and cabin crew applications, as well as work with inflight entertainment systems.
Mobile OnAir uses Inmarsat Swiftbroadband high-capacity services from Inmarsat fourth generation satellites.
