Canadian low-cost airline WestJet Airlines has begun the modernisation of its Boeing 737 fleet with the delivery of its first -700 - one of 10 aircraft the Calgary-based carrier will lease from GE Capital Aviation Services. A further 26 737-700s have been ordered from Boeing. All 36 are due for delivery by January 2006. The airline operates 23 ageing Boeing 737-200s.
