John White, deputy US defence secretary for the past two years, will step down in June to "-move on to new challenges". White says that he delayed his departure to assist William Cohen in his shift from Capitol Hill to the Department of Defense's top job. The former business executive says that it is time to leave since the Quadrennial Defense Review has been essentially completed.
