In this wintry time (in the northern hemisphere at least), there is trouble in store for the student pilot if not careful. Budgie News was recently informed about one unfortunate pilot who got lost on a solo cross-country. The following was overheard while ATC began hunting for him on radar:

ATC: "What was your last known position?" Student: (weakly) "When I was number one for take-off."
